Biography

Why did you choose to go to Calvin: I chose to go to Calvin for a couple of reasons. The three main ones are: (1) they gave me the best financial aid package, (2) I had the ability to compete in both pole vault and diving, and (3) I was unclear about my major, but Calvin has all of the majors I was thinking about, so I knew if I switched majors, I wouldn’t have to transfer to a different school.

Favorite Sports Figure: I don’t really follow sports; I mostly just do them. I guess if I need an answer, it would be David Bodia.

Favorite food: Probably French fries

High School Honors:

  • All-conference in diving (1 year)

  • Spirit of America award (2 years)

  • State qualifier (3 years)

  • Academic all-conference (3 years)

  • Female athlete of the year (upon graduation)

Other Athletic Achievements:

  • State champion in gymnastics (back in the day)

Other Interesting Facts:

  • Karate was my first competitive sport

  • My dominant side changes by sport (i.e. in Karate, soccer, volleyball, basketball, I am a righty; in diving, gymnastics, and track I am a lefty)

  • My sister played golf at Judson University

  • My other sister is a national champion in karate

Major: Civil Engineering & Spanish
