GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Calvin currently stands in 17th place in the Learfield Directors' Cup standings through its winter sports season. The Knights have 420.50 points so far. New York University leads the standings with 812.25 points.
Calvin received 73.4 points from the women's indoor track and field team which placed sixth at the NCAA III Championships last month. The Knights received 64.5 points from its men's swimming and diving team that placed 12
th at the NCAA III Championships last month. Its women's swimming and diving team earned 39 points for a 27
th place finish at the NCAA III Championships with the men's indoor track and field team collecting 15.5 points for placing 56
th at the NCAA III Championships.
LEARFIELD DIRECTORS' CUP STANDINGS THROUGH 4-2-26
The latest set of fall sports standings includes the sports of swimming and diving, indoor track and field, basketball, fencing, ice hockey, rifle, skiing and wrestling.
The Learfield Directors' Cup race is held at the NCAA Division I, II and III levels and also for NAIA institutions. The Learfield Directors' Cup is based on points earned by teams that compete in NCAA and NAIA Championship events and is presented annually by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) to the best overall collegiate athletics program in the country.
Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA and NAIA Championship competition. Each national champion receives 100 points with a national runner-up finish worth 90 points. Third place is worth 83 points and fourth place finishes count for 80 points with a sliding point scale continuing by order of finish.
Competition will continue with the winter sports season and finish with the conclusion of the spring sports season in May.
