ALMA, Mich. – The Calvin University women's tennis team earned its seventh straight win with a 7-0 sweep at Alma College on Thursday.
Calvin (9-6, 6-1 MIAA) dropped only three points in doubles before winning all six singles matches over Alma (6-9, 1-6 MIAA) in straight sets.
The Knights jumped out to a 1-0 overall lead thanks to three doubles wins, each by the score of 6-1.
In singles,
Ryan Morey (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern) won at the top of the line-up 6-3, 6-3, while
Tessa Holman (Washington, Mich./Romeo) won 6-2, 6-3 in the number-two spot.
Ana Ornellas (Londrina, Brazil/Colegio Saber) won 6-0, 6-0 in the three-singles spot, followed by a 6-0, 6-2 win by
Elise Norman (Kalamazoo, Mich./Lakeview) in four-singles.
Julia Hooker (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) (6-1, 7-5) and
Sabrina Lopez (Steger, Ill./Illiana Christian) (6-0, 6-2) earned wins to close out the line-up.
With their wins, Hooker and Lopez remained unbeaten in MIAA play with 7-0 singles records, while Holman earned her sixth-straight conference win.
