Calvin University senior
Brooke Hunderman was named MIAA Pitcher of the Week for softball on Monday.
Â
Hunderman (Grand Rapids, Mich./Calvin Christian) won the honor after helping Calvin to an 8-4 start to the season in their spring break trip to Florida last week.
Â
During the trip, Hunderman made seven appearances, including five starts, and finished with a 4-2 record. She threw three shutouts (against Westminster, Roger Williams and Alfred) and struck out 38 batters in 38 innings. Included in those three shutouts was a no-hitter against Westminster on Monday, March 9, in which she struck out three batters in six innings.
Â
For the season, Hunderman has a 1.11 earned run average (ERA) while allowing only six earned runs.
Â
This marks the fifth time in Hunderman's career that she has been named MIAA Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Â
Calvin softball will return to action on Friday, March 20, when it hosts a doubleheader against Anderson University (Ind.) starting at 3:00 PM.
