Calvin University senior Charles Platt was named MIAA Men's Swimmer of the Week on Monday.
 
Platt (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) earned the honor for his record-breaking performance at the MIAA Swimming and Diving Championships presented by Collegiate Credit Union last week while helping the Knights to a second-place finish.
 
At the four-day event, Platt earned first-place finishes in the 50 freestyle (19.97), 100 freestyle (43.25) and 200 freestyle (1:36.27). He also competed in 800 freestyle relay, 200 freestyle relay, 400 medley relay, 400 freestyle relay to help the Knights earn first-place finishes in three of the four relay events.
 
Platt also set new Calvin and MIAA records in both the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle, while helping the Knights set a new MIAA mark in the 800 freestyle relay.
 
The times also pushed Platt into the top five in NCAA III this season for the 100 freestyle (an 'A' cut time) and 200 freestyle (a 'B' cut time).
 
This marks the sixth time Platt has been named MIAA Swimmer of the Week during his career.
