Calvin University junior outside back Jake Ziolo was named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week for men's soccer on Monday.

Ziolo (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) won the honor for his performance in a 1-0-1 week that featured a 0-0 tie at Albion College on October 13 and a 3-2 win at Hope College on October 16.

After helping the Knights record their seventh shutout of the season against Albion, Ziolo scored the game-winner goal as the final buzzer sounded to help the Knights defeat Hope College in the final second of play.

This season, Ziolo has scored two goals and added three assists for the 12th-ranked Knights to an 11-1-2 record and 3-0-1 league record.

This marks the second time that Ziolo has won MIAA Defensive Player of the Week for men's soccer honors in his career.

Calvin men's soccer will return to action on Wednesday, October 21, when it hosts Trine University in a contest scheduled to start at 7:00 PM at Calvin Soccer Stadium.
