Charles Platt Named MIAA Men’s Swimmer of the Week for the Fourth Time

Calvin University senior Charles Platt was named MIAA Men's Swimmer of the Week on Monday.

Platt (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) won the honor for his efforts at the Be Better; Invite hosted by the University of Michigan to open the season. The Be Better; Invite featured a mix of traditional and non-traditional events as part of an event to help raise awareness for mental health.

At the Be Better; Invite, Platt swam a time of 21.03 in the 50 yard freestyle to take second place against swimmers from two Big 10 schools (University of Michigan and Purdue University) and Hope College. He also took part in a pair of relays that finished seventh and finished second in the 25-Yard Mystery Shootout event featuring competition from the other three schools.

This marks the fourth time Platt has earned MIAA Men's Swimmer of the Week honors during his career.

Calvin swimming and diving will return to action on Saturday, October 18, when it hosts Grand Valley State University and Saginaw Valley State University in a triangular meet at Venema Aquatic Center.
