The Calvin University men's basketball team received team and individual academic awards from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Thursday.
Uchenna Egekeze (Huntley, Ill./Huntley),
Mike Morris (Grand Rapids, Mich./West Catholic),
Jalen Overway (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian),
Luka Ressler (Caledonia, Mich./Catholic Central),
Owen Varnado (Muskegon, Mich./Western Michigan Christian) and
Trevin Winkle (McBain, Mich./Northern Michigan Christian) were recognized as members of the NABC Honors Court.
The team also earned the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award.
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize programs that completed the 2024-25 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2024-25 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
This marks the third straight season Egekeze earned NABC Honors Court mention.
The Knights finished the 2024-25 season with a 21-7 record and secured its third consecutive MIAA regular season championship with a 14-0 conference season and also its first MIAA Tournament championship since the 2016-17 season.
