ALMA, Mich. – Calvin opened up its 2025 conference campaign with a resounding 22-2 victory at Alma College Wednesday night. The Knights are now 4-5 overall and 1-0 in the MIAA.
Calvin led 9-0 after one period of play and never looked back. The Knights held a 14-1 lead at intermission, scored five unanswered goals in the third quarter and then held a 3-1 edge in the final quarter of play.
Senior
Thomas Smith (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. Grosse Pointe South) and freshman
Colin TeBrake (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northview HS) helped Calvin cook in the first quarter as they scored two goals apiece in the opening 15 minutes. Senior
Joshua Moyer (Allentown, Pa. Allentown Central Catholic) and sophomore
Jordan Warners (Orange, Calif. Crean Lutheran) also both had a goal and an assist in the opening frame.
In the second quarter, Smith had two goals, junior
Braden Carpenter (Noblesville, Ind. Noblesville) two goals and freshman
Caleb Postema (Byron Center, Mich./South Christian HS) two goals as the Knights built a 14-1 lead.
Calvin had 13 different players score at least one goal.
Smith led the way with five goals and one assist. Smith now has 142 career points and sits in a solid third place on the Calvin career points list. TeBrake notched his first collegiate hat trick as he finished with three goals. Carpenter also had three goals and three assists for his second straight hat trick including the 10
th of his collegiate career.
Postema had two goals. Warners had a goal and three assists. Moyer had a goal and two assists. Also scoring single goals were junior

Calvin returns to action on Saturday, traveling to North Central College for a non-conference game scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. (CT).
