Calvin's Uchenna Egekeze Named NABC Division III First Team All-American

Calvin's Uchenna Egekeze added to his growing list of post-season awards on Wednesday evening as he was named a Division III First Team All-American by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

A graduate student at Calvin, Egekeze (Huntley, Il./Huntley HS) is receiving NABC All-America honors for the first time in his collegiate career.

Earlier this week, he was named to the D3hoops.com Region 7 Player of the Year and to the D3hoops.com Region 7 First Team. In addition, he was named the NABC District 7 Player of the Year as well as the NABC District 7 First Team.

On Monday, Egekeze was named to the NABC Division III All-Star Game. He will compete in the competition this Saturday in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Egekeze recently wrapped up a standout collegiate career with the Knights. Last month, he was named the MIAA's Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the first individual in MIAA men's basketball history to receive both awards. He averaged 14.8 points and 6.0 rebounds a game while collecting 54 steals and 29 blocked shots. He was named to the 2025 All-MIAA First Team.

Over the course of his collegiate career, Egekeze was a three-time All-MIAA First Team selection and a three-time MIAA Defensive Player of the Year choice.  He finished his career as the all-time Calvin men's basketball leader with 221 career steals. He also finished fourth in career assists (277), fifth in career blocks (135), and ninth in career points (1,581).

"In a week full of recognition for Calvin Basketball student athletes, Uchenna is honored with 1st team All-American Honors from the NABC," said Calvin head men's basketball coach Bill Sall. "This award helps cap off an amazing season and career for one of the best to wear the Maroon and Gold."

It marks the second consecutive season a Calvin men's basketball player has been named an NABC Division III First Team All-American as Jalen Overway received the same award last March.
