UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - Today the Calvin women's lacrosse team traveled to take on John Carroll University. After a competitive first half John Carroll dominated the second half as they defeated the Knights and Calvin's record moved to 1-1.

The Wolves jumped out to a quick start as they scored twice within the first five minutes of the game. Senior
Meghan Chang (Clarksburg, Md./Clarksburg) and junior
Morgan Bethard (DeWitt, Mich./DeWitt) got the Knight on the board when they each scored; however, John Carroll answered with two of their own to make the score 4-2 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter,
Jacey Smith (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) found the back of the net to close the scoring gap. Minutes later, a Wolves attacker broke through the Calvin defenses to answer with a goal of their own and the teams headed into halftime with a John Carroll leading 5-3.

In the second half, besides a lone goal by freshman
Corinne Plumb (St. Louis, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy), John Carroll dominated the score sheet as they went on to beat the Knights 13-4.

The Wolves out shot Calvin 39-17 while the Knights bettered John Carroll on draw controls 13-8.Â

Natalie Scott (Dyer, Ind./Illiana Christian) and goalkeeper
Hannah Rizzo (Waterville, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) led the team in ground balls with three apiece while Smith and Scott each tallied two caused turnovers. In goal, Rizzo recorded 14 saves.
