Calvin University senior keeper Charles Platt was named MIAA Men's Swimmer of the Week on Monday.
 
Platt (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) won the honor after a strong overall performance at the Calvin Winter Invite at Venema Aquatic Center that took place from December 4-6.
 
At the event, Platt swam a 47.2 in the 100 backstroke and a 43.6 in the 100 freestyle to take second place at both events. His 100 backstroke time ranks second in NCAA III this season, while his 100 freestyle time ranks fifth in NCAA III. He also swam a 19.9 in the 50 freestyle.
 
In the relays, Platt anchored the 400 medley relay and 200 medley relays, swimming a 42.6 in the free to mark the fastest split in Calvin history and a 19.6 in the 200 medley relay.
 
This marks the fifth time Platt has won MIAA Swimmer of the Week, including the second time this season.
 
Calvin swimming and diving will return to action on Friday, January 9, when it hosts Wayne State University at Venema Aquatic Center.
