Four members of the Calvin women's cross country team have received Division III All-Region accolades from the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association.
Named to the USTFCCCA All-Region team from Calvin are senior
Sophie Bull, junior
Hailey Erickson and freshmen
Ayla Holben and
Brynn Ellenbecker. To earn all-region accolades, individuals needed to have finished in the top 35 at their regional competition last Saturday at Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville Kentucky.
SOPHIE BULL (Denver, Co./Denver Christian HS)
Bull is receiving all-region honors for the third straight year. In 2023, she placed 16
th at the Great Lakes Regional meet and followed with a third place showing in 2024. This past Saturday, she captured Great Lakes Regional individual champion honors, winning the 6K race in a time of 21:40.85, finishing 27 seconds ahead of her nearest pursuer. She became the ninth individual from Calvin to win an individual regional championship and the first to do so since Lauren Strohbehn did so in 2015.
HAILEY ERICKSON (Arlington Heights, Il./Mount Prospect HS)
Erickson is receiving all-region honors for the third straight year. In 2023, she placed ninth at the Great Lakes regional meet and followed with a 22nd place finish in 2024. Last Saturday, she took eighth place with a time of 22:16.4.
AYLA HOLBEN (DeWitt, Mich./DeWitt HS)
Holben is receiving all-region accolades for a sterling first regional race last Saturday. She placed 18
th last Saturday with a time of 22:40.62.
BRYNN ELLENBECKER (Itasca, Il./Lake Park HS)
Ellenbecker is receiving all-region honors after placing 29
th at the regional meet last Saturday. She posted a time of 22:54.89.
As a team, Calvin took second at the Great Lakes Regional Championships last Saturday with a team score of 91 points. The effort helped the Knights earn an at-large bid to the NCAA III Championships which are slated to be held on Saturday morning in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Â
