FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- Calvin University head coach Emily Ottenhoff has been named the 2025 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women's Soccer Coach of the Year after guiding the Knights to another dominant season.
Ottenhoff led Calvin to its sixth-straight MIAA regular-season title and fourth-straight MIAA Women's Soccer Tournament championship, continuing one of the most successful runs in program history. The Knights finished the regular season undefeated in league play at 8-0 and enter the NCAA Tournament with an overall record of 14-4.
Calvin's success was built on both consistency and depth. Four Knights earned spots on the 2025 All-MIAA First Team, highlighted by senior Mia Judd, who was named the 2025 MIAA Most Valuable Player. Three additional players were selected to the All-MIAA Second Team, underscoring the balance and strength across the roster that have come to define Ottenhoff's teams.
A Calvin alum, Ottenhoff is in her eighth season at the helm of the women's soccer program, where she has continued to elevate the standard of excellence she once helped shape as a player. Her leadership has fueled sustained success and fostered a culture of growth, accountability, and togetherness within the team.
"It is an honor to receive this award on behalf of our program!" Ottenhoff commented. "Recognition like this is truly a reflection of our entire team and coaching staff and not one individual. It comes only through the work and performance of our student-athletes. Getting results in the MIAA is not an easy task and our women continued to find different ways to make that happen. Additionally, I am grateful to Annette and Tara for the work they continue to do to help our program compete at a high level. The responsibility of helping our student-athletes reach their potential is a shared one and I am thankful for their work and commitment to that vision.
The Knights will open NCAA Tournament play on their home field, hosting Penn State Behrend in the first round on Friday, November 14, at 3:30 p.m.
