The 2024 Calvin University women's soccer team added one final award to its accomplishments on Wednesday when it was named a recipient of the United Soccer Coaches Team Pinnacle Award.
Â
The award, which was first handed out in 2019, recognizes teams for sportsmanship, academic achievement and on-field success. Calvin is one of only 14 total teams (men's and women's) across all collegiate divisions to receive the honor.
Â
To be considered for the award, teams must have received either the Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze version of the High School or College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award; achieved recognition in the classroom as a recipient of the High School or College Team Academic Award; and recorded a winning percentage of .750 or higher during the respective season.
Â
Calvin won the Silver Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award from United Soccer Coaches after finishing the 2024 season with only four yellow cards.
Â
In the classroom, the Knights won the Team Academic Award from the United Soccer Coaches thanks to a 3.52 team grade point average.
Â
On the field, Calvin went 15-3-2 on the season and won the MIAA regular season and tournament championships. The Knights also won their opening round game of the NCAA Division III Tournament before falling in round two.
