Calvin Women's Soccer Extends Winning Streak With Commanding Victory Over Olivet

OLIVET, Mich. - Today the Calvin women's soccer team extended its winning streak to five in a row when it put on a dominant performance against the Comets of Olivet.

With today's victory the Knights improved to an 8-4-0 overall record while posting a 4-0-0 MIAA record. Olivet falls to 2-11-0 overall and 0-4-0 in conference play.

Calvin wasted no time getting to work as junior Katherine Bergman (Farmington Hills, Mich./Farmington) gave the Knights an early lead when she found the back of the net just six minutes into the match. Three minutes later, junior Mikaela Waroway (Ann Arbor, Mich./Father Gabriel Richard) extended the Calvin lead when she scored off an assist from senior CeCe McCarthy (Ypsilanti, Mich./Father Gabriel Richard).

The Knights put an exclamation mark on the first half when junior Lydia Jacobs (Saginaw, Mich./Nouvel Catholic) found senior Elie Farrell (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton Warrenville South) to send Calvin into halftime with a 3-0 lead.

In the second half, the Knights offensive assault continued as junior Avery Mrozinski (Milford, Mich./Milford), freshman Katherine Bergman (Farmington Hills, Mich./Farmington), and freshman Lexi Glowicki (Rochester, Mich./Lutheran High North) all got in on the scoring action to boost Calvin to the 6-0 victory.

The Knights domination showed on the stat sheet as they outshot Olivet a whopping 46-1. Senior goalkeeper Kalex Dodge (Leslie, Mich./Leslie) started the match before junior Jorja Jenema (Williamsburg, Mich./Elk Rapids) entered the game at halftime and recorded the lone save for Calvin.

COACHES COMMENTS: "We were able to get a lot of people chances to compete and grow today while also getting a result," said head coach Emily Ottenhoff. "It was exciting to see the growth through playing today. We're happy to grab three points on the road!"
