SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Today the Calvin women's basketball team extended its win streak when it took down MIAA opponent Saint Mary's. With today's victory the Knights moved to 11-7 overall and 7-2 in conference play.

The Knights got things going fast and early as
Chloe Wiegers (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) found
Katelyn LaRue (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) down low for the first points of the game.
Hannah Sall (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) also got in on the scoring in the paint before
Anna Fernandez (Plymouth, Mich./Plymouth Christian Academy) showed off her range by knocking down a three-pointer.Â

With three minutes left in the quarter freshman
Jamie Custer (Galena, Ohio/Worthington Christian) powered through contact to convert on a layup before nailing the free throw to complete the three-point play. Â
Fernadez scored Calvin's first seven points of the second quarter as the Knights looked to extend their lead over the Belles. On the offensive side of the ball, Custer and
Hannah Sall each continued to add to their point total. Defensively, senior
Valerie Dirkse (Vienna, Va./Marshall) used her height to advantage as she swatted away multiple shot attempts from Saint Mary's.
Â
Calvin led 34-30 at halftime.Â
Â
In the second half Calvin kept the momentum on their side as Wiegers picked up her first points of the game.
Hannah Sall and Fernadez both continued to score at will while the Knights remained united on the defensive front and kept Saint Mary's scoring opportunities to a minimum.
