Ethan Boelens has added one additional honor to his growing raft of men's lacrosse honors.
A native of Round Lake, Illinois, Boelens (Grayslake Central HS) has been named a Division III Scholar All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association as sponsored by Blatant Lacrosse.
Boelens is the third USILA Scholar All-American in Calvin men's lacrosse history. A Scholar All-American must be nominated by his coach and be a student with a senior year academic standing and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale). He will have behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution, and to college lacrosse both on and off the field. He must also be an All-American, a member of a North/South team, or an outstanding league or conference player. Each Individual is evaluated on a case by case basis by the Scholar All-America committee.
Boelens was named the MIAA's 2024 Defensive Player while landing a spot on the All-MIAA First Team.
As a senior defender this spring, Boelens set a Calvin single-season record for caused turnovers with 53. His efforts helped the Knights set a school record for wins in a season as Calvin finished 12-6 on the campaign. He also helped Calvin finish third in the MIAA regular season standings and reach the MIAA Tournament semifinals.
Boelens completed his Calvin career with 126 caused turnovers and 181 ground balls, ranking second on the Calvin career list for caused turnovers and fifth in ground balls.
In the classroom, he graduated from Calvin with a degree in business operations and supply chain management while holding a 3.70 grade point average. He was a seven-time member of the Calvin Dean's List and three-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. Â Â
