OLIVET, Mich. – The Calvin University women's tennis team lost only seven total points on the way to a 9-0 win at The University of Olivet on Tuesday.
Calvin (14-1, 4-0 MIAA) was in control from the start as the number-one doubles team of
Catherine Grissom (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) and
Rachel Grissom (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central), as well as the number-three team of
Julia Hooker (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) and
Delanie Minnema (East Grand Rapids, Mich./Northpointe), each won 8-0. The number-two team of
Tessa Holman (Washington, Mich./Romeo) and
Elise Norman (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview) won 8-4.
The Knights continued to roll in singles, where Holman,
Rachel Grissom and
Sabrina Lopez (Thornton, Ill./Illiana Christian) each won 6-0, 6-0, while
Catherine Grissom, Minnema and Hooker won their matches 6-0, 6-1.
The win kept the Knights unbeaten through the halfway point of conference play, while Olivet fell to 2-11 overall and 0-4 in the MIAA.
NEXT UP: Calvin women's tennis returns to action on Saturday, April 13, when it hosts Hope College in a match scheduled to start at 3:00 PM.
