SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Today the Calvin men's volleyball team traveled to Springfield, Ohio to compete in the final match of the inaugural season against the Tigers of Wittenberg where they fell in three sets with scores of 21-25, 16-25 and 22-15.
The Knights finished their season with an overall record of 6-19 and a MCVL conference record of 3-6. After today's match Wittenberg improved to 18-8 overall and 9-0 in MCVL play.
Calvin hit .120 on the day with their best performance coming in the first set where they hit .156. The Knights attack was led by freshman Brady Gudauskas (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) who recorded eight kills and junior Gabriel Laughlin (Grand Rapids, Mich./West Michigan Aviation Academy) had seven kills.
Junior Arie Padmos (Martinez, Calif./Contra Costa Christian) and freshman Nick Bultje (Byron Center, Mich./South Christian) each contributed five kills while senior Ethan Wilstermann (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) had two kills and two block assists.
Sophomore libero Parker Steele (Boscobel, Wis./Boscobel) led the Knights with 12 digs while freshman setter Cameron Dogger (Holland, Mich./Zion Christian) recorded 24 assists in the match.
COACHES COMMENTS: "Really proud of how far the guys have come this season," said head coach Spencer Fredrick. "Really excited to see what the future holds for this young program!"
