LOS ANGELES, Ca. – Calvin closed out its west coast swing with a 14-12 victory over Cal Lutheran Friday afternoon. The Knights finish their spring trip with a 2-1 record and move to 3-3 overall.

Cal Lutheran built an 11-8 third quarter lead before the Knights answered with three straight goals of their own with graduate student
Lainey Aldridge (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich./Grosse Pointe North HS) scoring to make it 11-9, sophomore
Jacey Smith (Watertown, Wisc./Watertown HS( converting to make it 11-10 and sophomore
Audrey Booher (Fishers, Ind./Heritage Christian HS) putting one in late to tie it 11-11 heading into the final quarter of play.

Morgan Bethard (DeWitt, Mich./DeWitt HS) gave Calvin a 12-11 lead early in the fourth and after the Regals tied the game at 12, senior
Meghan Chang (Clarksburg, MD,/Clarksburg HS) and Booher scored – both in man-up situations to give Calvin a 14-12 lead with 6:17 remaining.
Calvin played staunch defense down the stretch with a key free position shot for Cal Lutheran sailing high with 2:35 remaining.
Booher finished with four goals, netting her fifth consecutive hat-trick performance of the season.
Aldridge, Gothard, Ruha and Bethard all had two goals apiece. Chang and Smith both scored in the second half.
Smith and freshmen
Alex Petrusha (Milford, Mich./Milford HS) and
Jessica Eenigenburg (Norton Shores, Mich./Western Michigan Christian HS) all had one assist apiece.
Petrusha had four draw controls for the Knights. Freshman
Margee Boelema (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS) had three saves and 10 ground balls in goal for the win.
Calvin held a 29-23 shots at goal advantage.
NEXT UP: Calvin will host Indiana Tech next Thursday at 5 p.m. at Zuidema Field in its home opener.
