ALLIANCE, Oh. – The Calvin men's soccer team suffered its first defeat of the year, falling at Mount Union late Saturday afternoon 1-0.
Saturday's match featured a pair of previously undefeated teams as Mount Union entered the match with a 5-0-0 record while Calvin came in at 6-0-0.
The only goal of the match came in the 85
th minute from Mount Union's Kabiona Ramadhani. Ramadhani scored off a pullback pass just above the six-yard box from Carter Hancock and converted the chance into the far left corner.
The contest featured few high quality scoring chances. Calvin threatened in the final minute of play on a free kick by sophomore
Jacob Ryu (Naperville, Il./Naperville North HS) from 25 yards out but Ryu's dipping shot skipped off the back of the crossbar and out of play.

Daniel Wunder (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) was able to come up with three saves.
Calvin (6-1-0) gained a stronger foothold on the game early in the second half with sustained possession of the ball but the Purple Raiders (6-0-0) began to press the attack inside the final 20 minutes of play and converted in the closing minutes.
Mount Union was awarded six corner kicks to the four of Calvin. The match featured 23 total fouls with Mount Union whistled for 13 and Calvin 10.

Ryan Souders. "Certainly they did some things very well and executed their game plan. Things to learn for us, for sure. We'll work to get better as a group and prep for a busy week ahead."
NEXT UP: Calvin will host Carthage on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Zuidema Field. The match will be part of a two-match homestand as the Knights will also host John Carroll University next Saturday at 6 p.m.
