Grand Rapids, MI – The Calvin University women's basketball returns to action this Saturday when it hosts Wisconsin-Whitewater at 4 p.m. at Van Noord Arena.
The Teams: Calvin and Wisconsin-Whitewater. Calvin enters the weekend with an overall record of 3-1 while Wisconsin-Whitewater is 5-0 on the year. The visiting Warhawks are ranked 9th by D3hoops.com and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
The Coaches: Mark Christner is in his fifth season as head coach of the Calvin women's basketball program. He has an overall record of 65-31 at the helm of the Calvin women's basketball program including a nationally-ranked, 21-win campaign last winter. Wisconsin-Whitewater is under the direction of head coach Keri Carollo who is in her 22nd season at the helm of the Warhawk program. She guided her team to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA III Tournament in 2023 and to the national championship final in 2022.
The Players: Calvin is led in scoring by junior point guard Emma Witte who averages 13.0 points and 2.3 rebounds a game. She was named to the DePauw Invitational All-Tournament Team last weekend. Sophomore forward RyAnn Rohrer is next, averaging 10.0 points and 7.0 rebounds a game for the Knights. Wisc.-Whitewater is led by senior forward Aleah Grundahl who averages 14.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest. Junior guard Kacie Carallo, a 2023-24 D3hoops.com pre-season (3rd Team) All-American, averages 12.6 points and 5.0 rebounds a game.
