NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The No. 15 ranked Calvin women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 conference victory at Saint Mary's Wednesday afternoon.
The Knights improve to 9-0-2 overall and 3-0-0 in the MIAA heading into a Saturday showdown with rival Hope for first place in the MIAA standings.
Calvin outshot Saint Mary's 20-2 including 13-0 in the first half. The two teams were tied at intermission however.
The Knights then broke through for the only goal of the game 31 seconds into the second half as freshman
Mikaela Waroway (Ann Arbor, Mich./Father Gabriel Richard HS) broke free in on goal off a lead pass from senior Elizabeth Williams (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS). Waroway was able to tuck a shot past the Saint Mary's goalkeeper for her third goal of the season.
Calvin's offense was unable to generate anything further from that point on but its defense was able to hold strong to produce the shutout win.
Calvin held an 11-1 edge in corner kicks. Junior
Kalex Dodge (Leslie, Mich./Leslie HS) collected her seventh shutout of the season including the 24
th of her collegiate career. She now ranks fifth on the Calvin career list for goalkeeper shutouts.

Emily Ottenhoff. "Credit to Saint Mary's. They came out very focused, competed hard and made it very difficult for us. Excited to have Mikaela back on the field with us and see her get a goal. We need to rest up fast and get to work tomorrow for a tough Hope team on Saturday."
NEXT UP: Calvin will now prepare to face rival Hope on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Zuidema Field.
