GRAND RAPIDS - The Calvin men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 win over Concordia University of Michigan on Friday at Gainey Athletic Complex in its final match of the fall season.
The Cardinals brought only four players, so the Knights started with a 3-0 edge thanks to forfeit wins in doubles (one) and singles (two).
In the two doubles matches that were played, the number-one team of
Ryan Broek (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian)) and
Tanner Warners (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Chistian) won 8-4, while the number-two team of
Isaac Jeong (Novi, Mich./Novi) and
Jared Berghorst (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville) won 8-1.
In singles,
Corwin Kim (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson),
Stuart Johnston (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc),
Emmanuel Henao Estrada (Medellin, Columbia/Escuela Normal Superior "La Merced") and
Adam Zentner (Clarkson, Mich./Clarkson) each won in straight sets.
Calvin improved to 1-0 on the season with the win, while the Cardinals fell to 1-1 in defeat.
