Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Calvin men's lacrosse secured a come-from-behind 7-6 conference win over Kalamazoo Wednesday night at Zuidema Field.
The Knight snapped a six-game losing skid that had included several narrow defeats.

Calvin (7-8 overall, 1-3 MIAA) trailed 6-2 late in the third quarter but a furious comeback led by senior Chase Sparling (Novi, Mich./Novi HS) helped get the Knights back in the game.
Sparling fed teammate Thomas Smith (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich./Grosse Pointe South HS) for a man-up goal with 1:49 left in the third to break a goal-less drought of more than 20 minutes.
Sparling then crammed home a shot on an assist from freshman Christian Coler (Ionia, NY/Honeyoye Falls-Lima HS) with just eight seconds left in the third.
With momentum on his side, Sparling won the opening faceoff of the fourth quarter, rushed down the middle and whipped home a shot to bring the Knights within 6-5 in the opening seconds of the fourth quarter.
Senior Jake Boender (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) teamed up with Sparling for the equalizing goal with 11:22 left in the fourth with Sparling drawing the assist.
Sparling won the ensuing faceoff and Dueweke was able to score moments later to give the Knights a lead they would not relinquish.

COACHES COMMENT: "We had a huge response from the guys tonight," said Calvin head men's lacrosse coach Dave Hoger. "We fell into the same mistakes we've been making but our defense stepped up and kept it close and our offense came alive and started clicking. It was great to see us overcome adversity and relearn that we can do hard things. Excited to build on this going into another tough conference game on Friday."
NEXT UP: Calvin will travel to Alma on Friday for a 7 p.m. conference game.
