GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Calvin improved to 3-2 in dual meet action with a 185-115 victory over Albion Saturday afternoon at the Venema Aquatic Center.
Calvin took first place in 11 events. Freshman Haley Thier (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) led the way by winning three individual races. Thier won the 100 breaststroke (1:06.74), 200 breaststroke (2:27.05) and 200 IM (2:13.07). She also was a part of Calvin's winning 200 medley relay team that clocked in with a time of 1:47.91. The relay consisted of junior Claire Sytsma (Ada, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS), Thier, sophomore Maggie Farrell (Portage, Mich./Portage Central HS) and freshman Sydney Sonday (Portage, Mich./Portage Central HS).
Farrell was a double-winner, taking first place in the 200 freestyle (1:58.74) and 100 butterfly (58.02).
Calvin sophomore Abigal Morse (Jenison, Mich./Jenison HS) was a double-winner, taking first place on the one-meter (219.14) and three-meter (211.65) diving boards.
Sytsma won the 100 backstroke (1:01.28) while sophomore Annie Connors (Burke, Va./Home School) won the 100 backstroke (1:01.28).
NEXT UP: Calvin returns to action next Friday when it hosts Davenport University in a dual meet at 5 p.m.
