Box Score BLOOMINGTON, Il. – The No. 5 Calvin women's volleyball team improved to 16-1 on the season with a 25-16, 25-16, 25-17 victory over Mount St. Joseph Saturday morning to complete tournament play at the Illinois Wesleyan Holiday Inn Express Classic.
Calvin finished with a 3-0 record at the tournament after defeating Aurora and host Illinois Wesleyan Friday night.
In its victory over Mount St Joseph Saturday, Calvin hit .418 as a team while serving up 12 aces.
Sophomore Gabriella Kellogg (Belleville, Mich./Plymouth Christian Academy) led Calvin on the attack with 13 kills and a .667 hitting percentage.
Senior Madelyn Hall (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville HS), junior Heidi Westra (Clarendon Hills, Il./Timothy Christian HS) and senior Kelsey Smith (Vienna, Va./Madison HS) had seven kills apiece. Smith had a match-high five service aces while Westra had three aces, four digs and two block assists.
Senior Grace Kellogg (Belleville, Mich./Plymouth Christian Academy) had seven digs and three service aces.
Junior libero Aubrey Wrubel (Jenison, Mich./Jenison HS) compiled a match-high 16 digs.
Senior Anna Schriemer (Vicksburg, Mich./Vicksburg HS) directed the Calvin attack with 35 assists and nine digs.
At the conclusion of the tournament, Wrubel and Westra were both named to the all-tournament team.
COACHES COMMENT: "Happy with our effort today and this weekend," said Calvin head women's volleyball coach Amber Warners. "We are starting to put things together and play both offense and defense. We will continue to keep working on things to improve and become better."
NEXT UP: Calvin will travel to Alma on Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. conference match.
