Box Score

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Calvin women's volleyball continue in its winning ways by defeating Olivet in league play with a 3-0 sweep on Tuesday night in Van Noord Arena. The set scores were 25-8, 25-8 and 25-10.

The Knights came ready to go by taking a quick 8-1 lead after a hard kill by Heidi Westra (Clarendon Hils, IL / Timothy Christian). Calvin continued to extend its lead after a kill by Maria Bos (Grand Rapids, MI / Grand Rapids Christian HS) brought the score to 17-4. Olivet couldn't stop Calvin's attack and struggled to create its own offense. The Knights dominated the remainder of the set  to win 25-8, capped off by a service ace by Westra

Calvin used the momentum it had in the first set to jump out to an early 10-4 lead after a kill by Gabriella Kellogg. The Knights kept building on their lead and after a nice service ace by Anna Schriemer (Vicksburg, MI / Vicksburg), they led 17-7 midway through the second set. The Comets again struggled to generate an offensive attack and the Knights defense was strong.

The Knights quickly grabbed the 13-6 lead in the third set, showing no signs of slowing down after a service ace by Aubrey Wrubel (Jenison, MI / Jenison). Calvin controlled the rest of the set while Olivet was unable to find answers for Calvin's attacks. The Knights went on to take the third set and the match with a 3-0 sweep.

Westra led the fifth-ranked Knights with 10 kills on the evening followed by Smith with 9 kills. Schriemer finished the game with 28 assists while teammate Wrubel finished with 8 digs. The Knights finished with an overall kill percentage of .500 and improve to 13-1 on the season.
