GAMBIER, Oh. - The Calvin women's soccer team improved to 3-0-0 on the season with a 6-2 non-conference victory at Kenyon College late Friday afternoon.

Calvin led 3-1 at halftime and then put the game away with two quick goals early in the second half.

Sophomore Elizabeth Williams (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) opened the scoring in the 13th minute, tapping in a crossing pass from sophomore Sophie Mueller (North Muskegon, Mich./North Muskegon HS). Kenyon (1-3-0) answered one minute later, heading in a corner kick to level the score 1-1.

In the 17th minute, sophomore Rory Pruis (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) netted her first collegiate goal, redirecting a kick from Williams to put the Knights up 2-1.

Freshman Talia List (Plymouth, Mich./Salem HS) gave the Knights a two-goal cushion late in the half, scoring unassisted in the 42nd minute of play.

Five minutes into the second half, Mueller got loose on a breakaway on a feed from Williams, slotting home a shot for her fifth goal of the season. Mueller got free again in the 56th minute, whipping home a shot for her second goal of the game and sixth of the season. List scored her second goal in the 86th minute. Kenyon added its second goal late in the contest, converting with 1:21 left to play to complete the scoring.

Calvin finished with a 21-12 shots at goal advantage. Freshman Emma Swain (Salt Lake City, UT/West HS) went the first 74 minutes and came up with five saves. Senior Sarah Hoekwater (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS) went the final 16 minutes and had one save.

COACHES COMMENT: "It was good to get a result today on the road," said Calvin women's soccer head coach Emily Ottenhoff. "I thought we came out strong with an attacking mentality. We need to recover fast to prepare for a very strong Denison team tomorrow."
