Box Score

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Calvin picked up a 79-45 conference victory at Kalamazoo Wednesday night, allowing the Knights to even their conference record at 2-2.

Junior Gabby Timmer (Caledonia, Mich./South Christian HS) achieved a significant milestone in the contest, surpassing the 1,000-point plateau with 12 points including eight in the first half. Timmer is the 18th player in Calvin women's basketball history to score more than 1,000 points in a career. She is the second member of her family to do so in a Calvin women's basketball uniform as older sister Anna Timmer scored 1,274 points from 2014-2017. Her father Jim Timmer was a 1,000-point scorer with the Calvin men's basketball program with 1,097 career points. In the win Wednesday, Gabby Timmer also hauled down a game-high 12 rebounds in posting her 23rd collegiate double-double.

Junior Stephanie Coors (Evergreen, Co./Valor Christian HS) and sophomore Leah Harris (Frisco, Tx./Lone Star HS) led Calvin in scoring with 17 points apiece. Coors grabbed eight rebounds while Harris had seven. Sophomore Sidney Cleary (Middleville, Mich./South Christian HS) had 12 points and four steals. Junior Baylee GalanBrowne (Evergreen, Co./Evergreen HS) had 10 rebounds and four assists. Senior Rebecca Boeve (Grandville, Mich./Covenant Christian HS) tossed in eight points to go with a game-high five assists of the bench. The Knights were 18 of 24 (.750) at the free throw line and held a 55-29 rebounding advantage.

COACHES COMMENT: "I want to start by congratulating Gabby for scoring 1,000 points," said Calvin women's basketball coach Mark Christner. "She joins an elite group of Calvin women's basketball players. To reach that point in only two-and-a-half years is a significant accomplishment. As for the game, I challenged our team to be the hardest working team tonight and we did that. We were active on defense and on the offensive glass. We also got the free throw line. It was a strong wire to wire win. Now we'll get back to work and prepare for Senior Day this weekend."

NEXT UP: Calvin will host Olivet on Saturday at 3 p.m. in a game that will honor Calvin's two seniors - Becca Boeve and Caitlyn Demaree (St. Louis, Mo./Principia HS). Saturday's game will mark the MIAA regular season finale for both teams with the league tournament set to begin next week.
