OSHKOSH, Wisc. – The Calvin men's basketball team was unable to keep pace with the No. 5 ranked Titans of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Wednesday evening as the Knights fell by a 78-56 score.

The game was part of the BSN Sports Classic hosted by UW-Oshkosh at the Oshkosh Arena.

Calvin (6-4) led 37-35 at halftime, shooting 54.8 percent from the floor but the host Titans used a 14-0 run early in the second half to take control of the game and pull away for the win.

The first half featured a series of lead changes with Calvin using late first half layups from seniors Thad Shymanski (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) and Luke Morrison (Bristol, Ind./Northridge HS) to take a 37-35 lead into the break.

The host Titans (11-1) took a 38-37 lead in the opening moments of the second half. Calvin remained in close contact through the opening six minutes trailing 46-45 after a layup by senior Jordan Katje (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Christian HS) pulled the Knights within one.

UW-Oshkosh then ripped off 14 unanswered points to take a commanding 60-45 lead and did not look back from that point to claim the win.

Calvin was led in in scoring by Morrison with 15 points while Shymanski had 12. Sophomore Uchenna Egekeze (Huntley, Il./Huntley HS) had nine points and Katje eight.

Eddie Muench led all scorers with 30 points to pace a Titan scoring attack that shot 49.2 percent from the field.

Calvin shot 43.1 percent from the field but just 29.6 percent in the second half.

The Knights return to action Thursday for a game against UW-Stout at the Oshkosh Arena.
