GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Calvin women's swimming and diving team dove back into action Saturday afternoon, defeating Albion 151-87 in a dual meet at Calvin's Venema Aquatic Center.
Calvin took first place in 10 of 13 events to roll to the win.
The Knights had a quartet of double-winners led by senior Hannah Chao (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington HS) who captured wins in the 200 IM (2:12.79) and 100 backstroke (59.27).
Senior Hannabeth Magnussen (Oakdale, Ca./Ripon Christian HS) took home wins on both diving boards, winning the one-meter (267.55) and three-meter (269.35) boards. Making her Calvin debut, freshman Maggie Farrell (Portage Mich./Portage Central HS) was victorious twice, taking first place in the 200 freestyle (2:00.49) and 500 freestyle (5:26.74).
Junior Kiersten Hollis (Oak Hill, Va./Home School) also had a big day, winning the 50 freestyle (25.09) and 100 freestyle (55.84).
In the 1,000 freestyle, freshman Lynda Steen (Schaumburg, Il./Schaumburg HS) raced to a win in a time of 11:33.03.
Calvin's 200 medley relay team of Chao, junior Samantha Sonday (Portage, Mich./Portage Central HS), junior Valerie Edewaard (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) and senior Jenna Oezer (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) clocked in with a first place time of 1:50.07.
NEXT UP: Calvin will host Division II Grand Valley State next Friday night at 6 p.m.
