Calvin Takes Down Albion

For the second time in less than 20 hours Calvin picked up a key conference
win. Albion was the latest victim of the Knights, bowing in three games 30-21,
30-12, 30-23. On Friday night, Calvin defeated Kalamazoo 21-30, 30-18, 23-30,
30-27, 15-8.

The victory keeps the Knights (10-3 overall, 4-1 MIAA) just one game back of
MIAA leading Alma College while the Britons fall to 5-10 overall and 1-4 in the
MIAA.

Leading the way for the Knights was sophomore outside hitter Kathy Brenneman
(North Muskegon) who recorded 12 kills and eight digs. Following on her heals
were sophomore Kara Kuipers (Unity Christian), and seniors Cassie Christopher
and Melissa Pell. Kuipers added seven kills and four blocks while Christopher
hammered seven kills and 15 digs. Pell completed the steady front line with six
kills and two service aces. Senior setter Laura Tucker (Holland Christian)
dished out 35 assists and sophomore Michelle Huyser (Window Rock, AZ) added two
service aces in a nice showing off the bench.

Calvin will return to action on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. as it plays host to St.
Marys College.
