Calvin Gets Big Win Over Kalamazoo

The road has been a tough place for the Knights to play over the past few
years. Tonight, however, Calvin was able to rise above the tough playing
conditions at Kalamazoo College and escape with a crucial league victory 21-30,
30-18, 23-30, 30-27, 15-8.

Calvin moves to 9-3 overall and 3-1 in the MIAA while Kalamazoo drops to 11-4
overall and 3-1 in the MIAA. The Knight's lone loss in conference play came at
the hands of Alma College, who currently sit atop the MIAA with a 10-3 overall
and 5-0 league mark.

Calvin was led by senior tandem Melissa Pell (Fremont) and Cassie Christopher
(Fruitport) as each recorded 15 kills and two service aces. Pell also
contributed four blocks while Christopher added a game-high 25 digs. Sophomore
Kathy Brenneman (North Muskegon) also had a nice game off the bench amassing 12
kills. Kara Kuipers (Unity Christian), a sophomore middle-hitter, also
contributed nine kills. Junior Trisha Balkema (Illiana Christian) and senior
Jessica Huisjen (Lansing Christian) both chipped in with 18 digs and three
service aces. Senior setter Laura Tucker (Holland Christian) dished out a
