Calvin Takes Down Albion

Calvin moved into momentary sole possession of first place in the MIAA
standings with a 30-22, 30-24, 30-23 victory over Albion in front of a large
Parent's Weekend Crowd Friday night at the Calvin Fieldhouse. The Knights
improved to 10-3 in the conference and to 16-9 overall. Hope and Alma are both
9-3 in the MIAA with Hope scheduled to play at Adrian Saturday and Alma slated
to host St. Mary's on Sunday.

Earlier in the year, Calvin suffered a five-game loss at Albion as the Knights
committed 19 service errors. On Friday, the Knights were sharp in the service
department, committing just three errors while racking up seven aces. Juniors
Cassie Christopher (Fruitport) and Melissa Pell (Fremont) had three service aces
apiece with Christopher also collecting a match-high 17 kills while Pell chipped
in with 12 kills.

Senior setter Sara Ahrenholz (Prinsburg, MN) also figured into the Calvin
attack as she chalked up seven kills and 34 assists.

As a team, Calvin compiled a hitting percentage of .367 in the win.

Calvin will close out its MIAA regular season campaign next Tuesday when it
travels to Kalamazoo for a 6:30 pm match.
