Calvin opened play with a pair of victories at the Hornet Invitational, 
downing Baldwin-Wallace 15-4, 8-15, 15-8, 15-9 and Bluffton 16-14, 15-9, 
15-7. 

In the victory over Baldwin-Wallace, Calvin was paced by senior 
All-American Rhonda Volkers (Holland Chrisitan) who came up with 14 
kills while senior Ann Wiersma (Vista, CA) had 13 kills and four service 
aces. Junior Michelle Bowen (Troy) added 11 kills while junior setter 
Sara Ahrenholz (Prinsburg, MN) tossed out 49 assists while collecting 14 
digs. 

Calvin used a complete team effort in its win over Bluffton as seven 
different players were credited with assists with Ahrenholz leading the 
way with 38 assists. Volkers continued her strong play up front with 15 
kills and two blocks while Wiersma had 13 kills and two service aces. 
Senior Alicia DeGroot (Tulare, CA) chipped in with seven digs. 

Calvin returns to action tomorrow when it faces undefeated Anderson at 
10:00 in a pool-play match.
