Box Score

LISLE, Il. - Calvin upped its season record to 6-0-0 with a 2-0 victory at Benedictine University Saturday night.

Ranked fifth in the United Soccer Coaches' poll and number-one in the D3soccer.com Top 25 poll, Calvin broke through a stubborn Benedictine defensive unit with a goal by senior Lucas Albrecht (Plymouth, Mich./Plymouth Christian HS) that came off a cross by senior Jacob Witte (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS). Albrecht was able to corral the cross and deflect a shot off a charging goalkeeper and into the net with just 5:11 left in the first half.

Calvin struck for the clinching goal late in the second half with Witte poking in a pass from senior Bobby McCaw (Dubuque, Ia./Hempstead HS) with 7:24 left in regulation. The goal was the sixth of the season for Witte and the 30th of his career.

The Knights finished the game with a 17-3 shots at goal advantage.

Sophomore Chris Morrish (Bradenton, Fl./St. Stephen's Episcopal School) picked up the shutout in goal for the Knights, recording two saves.

"It was a great win on the road for our team," said Calvin men's soccer coach Ryan Souders. "Benedictine was incredibly organized and disciplined as a side. Coach Schmidt is one of the best out there. We're ecstatic to be coming home with three points and will look to quickly regroup for Tuesday's match."

Calvin returns to action on Tuesday night when it travels to Wittenberg University for a 5:30 p.m. match.
