ALMA, Mich. - The Calvin men's swimming and diving team defeated Alma 136-60 on Saturday.
The following individuals took first place on Saturday:
*Senior Ben Holstege (Keswick, Va./Covenant HS) in the 200 freestyle (1:47.68)
*Sophomore Sam Norman (Fulton, Il./Fulton HS) in the 50 freestyle (22.41)
*Freshman Bryce Miner (Sunnyvale, Ca./Homestead HS) in the 200 IM (2:05.44)
*Sophomore Julian Iturbe (Caracas, Venezuela/Colegio Emil Friedman) in the 100 butterfly (53.96)
*Freshman Matt Creeks (Chantilly, Va./Chantilly HS) in the 100 freestyle (49.50)
*Freshman Jake Boender (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) in the 100 backstroke (56.13)
*Sophomore Lucas Holcombe (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron HS) in the 500 freestyle (5:12.67)
*Senior Skyler Fish (Ionia, Mich./Ionia HS) in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.31).
Calvin also won the 400 freestyle relay in a time of 3:21.93. The relay consisted of Ben Holstege, Jake Boender, freshman Dat Cao ( Vung Tau City, Viet Nam / Mount Saint Mary Catholic) and Creeks.
In the 200 medley relay, the Calvin squad of freshman Noah Holstege (Keswick, Va./Covenant HS), junior Jacob Deysher (Colorado Springs, Co./Palmer Ridge HS), Boender and freshman Nick Peeps (Toledo, OH / St. Francis de Sales School) took first in a time of 1:42.58.
