Wheaton Tops Women's Soccer

WHEATON, Ill. – Hours after defeating Trine on Tuesday, 3-0, the Calvin women's soccer team fell on a hot afternoon at Wheaton, 5-0. Calvin is now 7-2 on the season.

The Thunder struck first in the 15th minute when the Thunder got past the Calvin defense and a chip over the keeper.

Wheaton added another goal in the 29th minute and struck again two minutes later.

The Thunder led at halftime 3-0 and out-shot the Knights in the first half, 11-1.

With 38 minutes left in the match, The Thunder scored from three yards out for the fourth goal of the game.

The final Wheaton goal was scored in the final two minutes of play.

Freshman Amy Kliewer (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern) recorded three saves.

Freshman Jessica Paulson (Plymouth, Mich./Plymouth Christian), senior Anica Pausma (Tinley Park, Ill./Chicago Christian), and freshman Elizabeth Redfield (Cedar Springs, Mich./Northpointe Christian) all recorded a shot on Wednesday.

The Knights will return to action on Saturday night under the lights at Zuidema Field against Albion.
