No. 19 Men's Swimming & Diving Falls to Top-25 Duo

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Knights fell to a pair of top-25 teams on Saturday afternoon at the University of Chicago. Calvin lost to the No. 10-ranked host Maroons 205-89 and to No. 22 DePauw 167-121. Calvin won two events on Saturday.

The Maroon and Gold started the day taking second place in the 200-yard medley relay at 1:35.51.

Sophomore Ben Holstege (Keswick, Va./Covenant) picked up the first Calvin victory of the day in the 100-yard backstroke at 52.20.

The Knights had two of the three highest scores on the 1-meter boards on Saturday. Senior Dirk Tanis (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) finished in second place at 248.78 and in third place was junior Michael Moentmann (Solon, Ohio/Solon) at 237.83. Moentmann would win the 3-meter event at 306.65.

Senior Brett Stoughton (Centerville, Ind./Centerville) touched the wall at 52.81 in the 100-yard butterfly to take second place.

The Knights finished the day with a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay at 1:27.84.

Calvin returns to action on Saturday when the Knights close the dual-match season at Kalamazoo.
