Calvin Men's Basketball Teams Records 77-65 Win Over Carthage at Midwest Challenge

Box Score

HOLLAND, Mich. - The Calvin men's basketball team got back on the winning track with an impressive 77-65 victor over Carthage College at the Midwest Challenge hosted by Hope College at DeVos Fieldhouse.

Calvin (3-3) led 38-32 at halftime and then went on a 12-3 run to open the second half to build a 50-35 lead.

Carthage (4-2) whittled the Calvin lead down to single digits at 58-51 and later at 71-63 but could not overcome the backcourt attack of Calvin seniors Jordan Daley and Austin Parks. Daley poured in 25 points and 12 rebounds to match a career scoring high and notch his seventh collegiate double-double. Parks had 17 points on 6 of 10 shooting. Sophomore Mike Siegel also had a big game off the bench with 12 points and 10 rebounds to notch his first collegiate double-double.

"It was a real nice performance by our guys," said Calvin men's basketball coach Kevin Vande Streek. "We played with heart and we played for one another. I thought our rebounding was the difference in the game and that comes from heart and determination."

Calvin finished the game with a 51-30 rebounding advantage. Jordon Kedrowski had 22 points for Carthage while Mike Stevenson chipped in with 18.

Calvin will face Wheaton (IL) on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Hope's DeVos Fieldhouse.
