Box Score KALAMAZOO, Mich. - A superb serving performance propelled the fifth-ranked Calvin women's volleyball team to a 25-8, 25-11, 25-14 victory at Kalamazoo Saturday. The Knights collected 16 service aces in the win, improving to 16-3 overall and to 10-0 in the MIAA.
Freshman Keilahna Castillo (Grandville, Mich./Grandville HS) had a career-high six aces in the win while junior Laura Danhoff (Willard, Ohio/Willard HS) had four, sophomore Emily Blankespoor (Grand Rapids, Mich./South Christian HS) three and senior Jamie Koooiman (Eugene, Ore./South Eugene HS) two. Freshman Rachel Herrera (Schereville, Ind./Illiana Christian HS) also had one ace.
"Serving is something we focus on in every practice and in every match," said Calvin women's volleyball coach Amber Warners. "It can change the outcome of a game and today it was a big plus for our team."
Calvin hit .350 as a team and was led in hitting by Danhoff who had eight kills and a .357 hitting percentage. Freshman Anna Kamp (Orland Park, Ill./Chicago Christian HS) had seven kills. Castillo had 13 digs while Kooiman had eight.
Sophomore Jenna Lodewyk (Villa Park, Ill./Timothy Christian HS) had 24 assists, seven digs and five kills.

Calvin returns to action next Wednesday when it travels to rival Hope for a first place MIAA showdown scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at DeVos Fieldhouse.
