Box Score 2 BLOOMINGTON, IL - The top-ranked Calvin women's volleyball team improved to 8-0 on the year with three-set victories over Coe College and Illinois Wesleyan Saturday afternoon at the Illinois Wesleyan Barker Chevrolet Classic.
Calvin opened the day with a 25-23, 25-19, 25-22 victory over 21st-ranked Coe College. Calvin is now 2-0 against nationally-ranked opponents this year.
Calvin hit .340 as a team in the win led by sophomore Laura Danhoff (Willard, OH/Willard HS) who had 12 kills on 17 attack attempts as she posted a sizzling .647 hitting percentage. Junior Maggie Kamp (Orland Park, IL/Chicago Christian HS) had 10 kills while senior Emily Crowe (Granger, IN/Mishawaka Penn HS) had eight kills and a .500 hitting percentage.
Freshman setter Jenna Lodewyk (Villa Park, IL/Timothy Christian HS) had 36 assists and nine digs while senior Elise Biesboer (Elmhurst, IL/Timothy Christian HS) had 13 digs.
In the win over Illinois Wesleyan, Calvin hit .432 led by Maggie Kamp's 16 kills and .441 hitting percentage. Danhoff and senior Ellie Diepersloot (Madera, CA/Chowchilla HS) had eight kills apiece. Danhoff had five block assists and one block solo. Lodewyk had 32 assists, Biesboer 14 digs and sophomore Kielley Lemkuil (Verona, WI/Madison Memorial) nine digs.
Maggie Kamp was named to the all tournament team, marking the second straight weekend she has received all-tournament honors.
Calvin is back in action on Wednesday when it travels to Kalamazoo for a 7 p.m. conference match.
