Calvin dominated play in Saturday's game at Adrian's Docking Stadium, outshooting the Bulldogs 22-6 including 15-1 in the first half.
Calvin gained the early momentum 8:33 into the match as junior Taylor Pruis (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) pounced on an Adrian turnover and rifled in a shot for his third goal of the season.
Leading 1-0 at halftime, Calvin then doubled its lead in the second half as freshman Mitch Stark (South Lyon/South Lyon HS) scored an unassisted goal in the 62nd minute.
Senior Travis Vegter (Hudsonville/Unity Christian HS) closed out the scoring with a goal in the 87th minute on a feed by junior Sam Hanover (Saint Johns/Saint Johns HS). Vegter now has 124 career points and is tied with Joel Veldhouse for third place on the Calvin career points list.
Senior Andrew Claucherty (Sterling Heights/Bishop Foley HS) had a pair of saves in recording his first shutout victory of the season.
"I thought we again moved the ball well and played well as a team," said Calvin men's soccer coach Ryan Souders. "Adrian is a difficult place to place. Any time you can come down here and go back home with three points it's a happy ride home."
Calvin returns to action next Wednesday when it hosts Trine at Zuidema Field at 4 p.m.
