Calvin Falls to Albion

Despite holding a 12-8 shots at goal advantage, Calvin suffered its first shutout defeat of the year falling 1-0 at Albion Tuesday afternoon in an MIAA matchup. The loss dropped the regionally-ranked Knights to 5-4-0 overall and to 1-2 in the MIAA.

Calvin also held a 9-1 edge in corner kicks but could not capitalize. The only goal of the match came in the 18th minute of play as Albion's Brett Bonjernoor sent a pass into the Calvin box that deflected off a defender and into the Calvin goal. The Britons made the lone goal hold up to gain the win.

Albion (4-4-0 overall, 2-0-0 MIAA) used the strong play of goaltender Tavio Palazzolo who picked up seven saves for the Britons. Calvin senior Justin Bouw (Unity Christian HS) picked up five saves for the Knights in defeat.

Calvin returns to action on Saturday when it journeys to Alma for a 1:30 p.m. match.
