ADA, OH - In a battle of regionally ranked opponents, Calvin defeated Ohio Northern 1-0. The Knights (4-1), currently ranked eighth in the latest NCAA DIII Great Lakes Regional poll, delivered the first loss of the season for the Polar Bears (4-1), who checked into the poll rated fifth. The win also keeps the Knights undefeated on the road (3-0) and puts a dent in the impressive home record for ONU. Coming into the match the Polar Bears had recorded a 30-12-2 (.705) mark at home over the previous four seasons. 

Calvin received the only goal of the match from sophomore Joel Veldhouse (Sioux Falls Christian), who scored in third minute of competition on a long shot that found the back of the net. The goal marked the fifth of the season for Veldhouse, and extended his point scoring streak to five games. 

Senior Justin Bouw (Unity Christian) notched the shutout for the Knights in goal as he recorded two saves. Calvin and ONU each took 19 shots on goal. 

Calvin will return to action on Saturday, traveling to Wooster College for a 1 PM matchup.
