Coach Messina is entering his second season as an Assistant Coach for Calvin University Men’s ACHA D1 team and his 10th season as the Goalie Coach for the program. Messina previously coached 20 seasons with Davenport University as an Assistant Coach and Goalie Coach, while helping them win four consecutive ACHA National Championships.
As a student, Messina attended prep school at Shattuck St. Mary’s in Faribault, MN where he played on the Prep team. He was recruited to attend the State University of New York at Brockport to play men's NCAA Division III Ice Hockey. Messina excelled and received a varsity letter four years consecutively at SUNY Brockport from 1998-2002. Messina also received several honors including the NCAA All-American Scholar Athlete Award his senior year. At Brockport, Messina graduated with honors with a bachelor's degree in Business Marketing and Communications and a minor in English.
