Calvin University senior
Emma Ludema was named MIAA Pitcher of the Week for softball on Monday.
Â
Ludema (Martin, Mich./Wayland) won the honor after starting two games in the circle for the Knights with a 1-0 record and helping Calvin sweep doubleheaders against both Saint Mary's College and Kalamazoo College.
Â
In two starts, Ludema pitched 9.2 innings without allowing an earned run and striking out seven. In her second start of the week, Ludema threw a five-inning no-hitter at Kalamazoo, helping the Knights to a 10-0 win. In that no-hitter, Ludema struck out five an allowed only one walk in five innings.
Â
This season, Ludema has a 0.42 earned run average (ERA) in three appearances during league play and currently leads the Knights with a 1.62 ERA in 65.0 innings pitched this season.
Â
This is the second time in her career that Ludema has won MIAA Softball Pitcher of the Week honors. She previously won the award last season during her junior campaign.
Â
Calvin softball will return to action on Friday, April 17, when it hosts Alma College for a doubleheader scheduled to start at 3:00 PM.
