ADRIAN, Mich.- The Calvin ACHA D1 Hockey team lost 3-1 on the road against 8th ranked Adrian. Calvin is now 11-5-2 on the season and ranked 10th in the nation. Matteo Turrin scored the only goal of the 1st period with 1:40 to play to put Adrian ahead.
Cash Regan had the assist. Adrian went up two 13 minutes into the 2nd period with a goal from Caleb Minns, and assists from Keegan Decaluwe, and Hunter Allen. Calvin fought back with a goal from
Hayden Zimmerman in the with three minutes left in the period as
Tony Eaton, and
Dario Sacino assisted. Calvin worked to tie the game in the final period but could not score despite its efforts. The Knights gave up an empty net goal with 1:58 to play that ended their efforts. Calvin had 31 shots on goal while Adrian had 29.
COACHES COMMENT: "We had too many penalties tonight," said Calvin head coach
Josh Petrusma. "You can't beat a talented team like Adrian on the road while spending so much time in the penalty box. We need to be more disciplined to get a win against an opponent like this."
NEXT UP: Calvin has another chance at defeating Adrian at home on Friday January 23rd at 7:30pm.
